The challenge was to light an urban park so it became an entertaining space during day and night, but without the use of any pole-mounted light fixtures. This led to integrating the fixtures in-grade, in trellises, and in structural members of the stage roof. Vertical elements such as the perimeter arcade and a variety of trees were illuminated to provide reference points for pedestrians, as well as dimension and layering to the site. The central part of the park features an interactive water feature with coordinated lighting, located in front of a small performance stage, where lighting was provided to highlight the architectural structure as well as the performers on stage.
